Why I built this — by Varinder Kainth
I have owned multiple properties in the Lower Mainland. Every renewal I was told the same thing — go to a mortgage broker.
So I did. Some brokers wouldn't take my file. Others came back with options that looked good on the surface but felt off when I looked closer. Brokers are paid by lenders — and not all lenders pay the same.
I started reaching out directly to mobile mortgage specialists at Canada's Big 5 banks. I learned what they needed to see. I built real relationships with people who wanted to do good business.
That's how I locked 3.45% with RBC on my own renewal when CIBC posted 4.45% — saving $123,201 over the life of the mortgage.
